Vision in Silver Final Thoughts

Honestly, I'm pretty relieved that this book is finally over. It's not that I thought it was bad because I think Anne Bishop wrote a good story and did a good job at letting me be able to visualize what's actually happening, but it just wasn't my style of book. Even though I read people connections they made with the book and the real world, I still can't really get into fantasy writing.
Chapter 56 tells us what Elayne's diary actually says and that got me thinking again about how she was murdered and I wish the book told us who did it. She did write in her diary though, "I tossed Nicholas Scratch out on his stinky ass. I packed his bags and had them sitting outside the apartment door." Nicholas Scratch seems like one powerful guy, and I just get the impression from him that he doesn't like to be embarrassed. I'm assuming that this situation sort of embarrassed him because who wouldn't be embarrassed in a situation like that? It just made me wonder if he has anything to do with Elayne's death and if he was on board with it. But at least the terra indigene found the diary and not the humans, and Lizzy is finally safe.

  1. I think from the context clues throughout the book, we are supposed to assume that Elaine's brother, Leo Borden, was responsible for her death. I am sure that Nathan Scratch had some hand in it though. A powerful man like him being kicked out on his ass by a “nobody” like Elayne? No way he didn’t want revenge. The terra indigene are so lucky that Nathan saved Lizzy on the train, and were able to locate the journal before humans, especially any in the HFL movement.
The food shortage scandal in general was a very well done plot arc by Bishop. It wasn’t the most interesting or in your face plot line of the book, but yet ended up being the most important one, and the one that was underhandedly moving all of the other plots it connected to. Finally being able to reading Elayne’s journal was great, and helped to clear up a lot of questions I still had about the food shortage scandal that was being perpetrated by HFL.

  2. I think that the author did a great job at telling the story and using great amount of details. The fact that it was the third book didn’t make me confused or worry about information. Fantasy isn’t my kind of genre so it was hard to focus on all the characters and plots going on at the whole time while trying to see the whole story in your head. I think the way that Nicholas Scratch got kicked out makes Elayne pretty badass. She is a strong women and was scared of loving Monty the whole time because the shame your mother gave her. I am also glad that Lizzy is safe and no one is trying to hurt her or steal things from her.
